Step by Step Kitchen Cards
Privacy policy
This policy explains what information the Step by Step Kitchen Cards app collects, why, and what choices you have. The app is made by Jessica Adams (Adams Baked Goods and More).
What we collect
- Account details (only if you sign in). You only need an account for the Family Recipe Box. When you sign in, we get your name and email address from Sign in with Apple or the email you enter. With Sign in with Apple you can hide your real email.
- Your recipes and cards. Recipes you add, the step cards made from them, your notes, card colors, and photos you choose to add.
- Cook names and progress. The names you type for who is cooking, plus stars and badges earned. These stay on your phone.
- Shopping lists. The items you choose to buy and check off.
- Family Recipe Box. Recipes you put in your Family Recipe Box, and the star ratings and comments your family leaves on them. If you report something, we keep the report so we can review it.
- How many recipes you made. A count of step cards made each month, so plan limits work.
- Purchases. Whether you bought a recipe pack or a plan. Apple or Google handles payment; we never see your card number.
Microphone and voice
If you turn on Use my voice, the app uses your phone's microphone to listen for short commands like "Next" or "Start timer." The microphone is only used while voice commands are on, and only after you allow it. Your phone's built-in speech recognition (from Apple or Google) turns what you say into words. We do not record, keep, or share your voice. Read to me uses your phone's built-in voice to read cards out loud.
How we use it
- To make step cards from the recipes you add
- To back up your recipes and bring them to your other devices when you are signed in
- To keep your Family Recipe Box in sync for everyone in it
- To share recipes and ratings with the family members and people you choose
- To unlock what you bought
- To answer you when you contact us
We do not sell your information. We do not show ads. We do not use your information to track you across other apps or websites.
Services that help run the app
We use a few trusted services, and each only gets what it needs to do its job:
- Anthropic (Claude) reads the recipe text or photo you add so it can write the step cards.
- Google Firebase stores your account, the backup of your step card recipes (only when you are signed in), your Family Recipe Box, ratings, and monthly recipe count.
- RevenueCat keeps track of what you bought, so it works on all your devices.
- Apple and Google handle Sign in with Apple, payments, and speech recognition for voice commands.
Who can see your recipes
Your recipes are private to you. They are saved on your phone, and, when you are signed in, backed up to your account so only you can get them on your other devices. Photos stay on your phone. Only the people in your Family Recipe Box can see a recipe you add to it, and only they see its ratings and comments. You can block someone to hide their recipes and comments, and you can report anything that is not okay.
Children
The app is made for cooks of any age, and children often use it with a parent, teacher, or caregiver. A parent or guardian should set up the account and the family group for a child. We do not knowingly collect information from a child under 13 without a parent's permission. If you believe a child gave us information without permission, contact us and we will delete it.
Keeping and deleting your information
We keep your information while you have an account. You can delete a recipe at any time. You can delete your whole account in the app under Menu, My account, Delete my account; this removes your account, your recipe backups, your Family Recipe Box recipes, and your ratings and comments from our servers. You can also ask us by email to delete or send you a copy of your information.
Keeping it safe
Information is sent over secure connections and stored with the services above, which protect it with industry-standard security. No system is perfect, so please use a strong password if you sign in with email.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top and tell you in the app when the change matters.
